Throughout my teens and early twenties, I experimented at every opportunity with new and more daring recipes and flavour combinations to the delight of my friends and family. However it was only in 2012, when a close friend twisted my arm into creating a decorated celebration cake for a family anniversary (a Parcel cake to be exact!), that I first began to experiment with working with Sugar paste … and needless to say, I was soon hooked!
From there on in, I met every occasion – no matter how small! – With a Sugar paste decorated cake or cupcakes, with increasingly elaborate designs. However it was only when I had the good fortune of studying under Lynda Gilbey, the owner and Head Tutor of my local Cake Decorating School, that I really began to perfect my new skill.
Since 2012 I have acquired an extensive range of Qualifications through the school, including my PME Masters Award in Working with Sugar Paste, Royal Icing and Sugar Flowers, and my nationally recognised Level 2 ABC Award in Cake Decoration, in which I received a Distinction in all 5 modules. Furthermore I have also regularly competed in the esteemed Cake International Competitions at the NEC, achieving 1 Gold Award, 2 Silver Awards, 2 Bronze Awards and one Certificate of Merit so far along the way, against stiff opposition!
However out of all of these achievements, I am proudest most of all of the fantastic reputation and loyal customer base I have built up since starting The Daisy Chain Bakery in 2015 from humble beginnings within my home kitchen, and am very proud to have been a recommended supplier to the beautiful Cripp’s Shustoke Barn Wedding Venue for some years. What is more, of the many hundreds of cakes I must have designed and created since then, I am still filled with enthusiasm with every enquiry or order I receive and am committed to making the sometimes rather vague seeds of inspiration my customers present me with, into the very real – and yummy!- cake creation they have dreamt of!
Perhaps most importantly though, I also have a Level 2 Certificate in Food Hygiene in Catering and my sparkling kitchen has been awarded a 5 Star Hygiene rating by the local authorities! We are also fully insured and registered.
